Addicted to Light

When I first discovered Windlight settings in Second Life I was fascinated at how it would alter the look of the world around me.  With a click of a button, I could add fog, make it completely dark, make everything green or blue or red.   Then there is the affect it has on the look of the avatar - it can make clothing vibrant,  wash everything out, or make everything psychedelic.  The other thing it does, now that Materials has been introduced, is add effects to the outfits we wear.   Though all these things have been out for some time now, it is only now that I have started blogging regularly that I have come to a new appreciation of them.  It's useful when showing off outfits such as the Evalin set from Ben's Beauty. 

They still fascinate me and I can spend hours just clicking through them.    I wonder if there is a support group for that?  :)

The Roadtrip

As the long running science fiction series X-files  once stated:  "The truth is out there."  Sometimes, though the journey we take to find it takes us on hidden roads within our own minds rather than on the granite roads of the physical world.   Some routes we take often, the truths once gained lost along the way to other places - causing us to go back to revisit places we have already been.  Those routes can be visited and revisited so often that we know every landmark, every intersection, every blade of grass along the way.  At some point though,  we do learn the truth enough to see similar landmarks to know where certain roads lead and know to avoid them.  We already have the souvenir t-shirt and don't need another.  

Of course, if the t-shirt is as cute as this one from Ben's Beauty "Eika" set then it might be worth forgetting a few times (as you can see from the extensive HUD options show below).

Things have been going so well in my SL lately that it's put me in a very celebratory mood.  A few months ago, I was not blogging at all except every once in a while.  I blogged what I wanted and never thought I would be able to blog for a company.  In the last 2 months though, I went from having no sponsors to now having three: PM, Ben's Beauty and I.M. Collection.     It's all a bit stunning.  

What I find even more stunning is how things from each company is going with things from the others.  Such as the themes of the Just a Simple Bag Purse from I.M. Collection picked up the circular and curved theme of the Vika Dress from Ben's Beauty.  It tickles me and makes me smile when things work out this way. It's almost gives me the sense of it being destiny - doing what you are supposed to do at the time you are supposed to be doing it.  That is an encouraging thought and inspires me to keep going!

My Mery and Happy Place

 

I am in love with this dress.  The sleeves add a romantic touch to what is otherwise a very sexy dress  and it's pattern options are so amazing that it was hard to choose just one.  I chose this one though because it's light, vibrant, joyful  and just says, "SUMMER!"    It's pastel colour scheme also made me think of one store in which to take the picture. This store is  'my happy place' with it's delightful creations.  Of course - the store can only be Dust Bunny.   So merging the two - I could only call this picture "My Merry and Happy Place".

(Of course it also gave me joy to feature the work of Zuri Lyric of Lazuri who designed the hat, necklace and earrings.  They've been in my inventory for ages - just waiting for their moment it seems.  Sometimes it pays to be an SL inventory packrat!)

Working Vacation

Like the new purse from PM for the upcoming "Escape the Ordinary" hunt things just got a whole lot more interesting! 

It began with a styling block and having trouble with an outfit coming together.  So I spoke to my friend Jonelle who wanted to know if I wanted to blog for I.M. Collection and offered to put my name in. One thing led to another and please meet the new blogger for Iseult McPherson's I.M. Collection! I couldn't wait to get started and the above picture featuring her Amaya dress shows that the styling block is over!  WOOT!! 

It's a purely fun, sexy and tropical outfit with a nature motif.  Of course - the earrings (another upcoming release from PM for the Vault event) add a glam touch which I gladly welcome - after all - today is a celebration for having a new blog sponsor!

Ben's Beauty Jolie / A Golden Opportunity

 

I had been thinking, after starting my blog work with PM that it would be nice to have someone else to blog for.  So it was a pleasant surprise when Milla Crumb came to me and asked me if I would like to blog for the Ben's Beauty brand.   I have been friends with her for many years as we worked at Ghee together - I was a live model until I retired and she (of course) was the Ghee Girl.

There are certain models I will always look up to and appreciate for the work they do and I am so blessed to have come into contact with them.  They have been my inspiration and my encouragement. 

Bea Serendipity was one.  She was irreplaceable and her loss is still felt. She took a chance on hiring a new model that no one had ever heard of when she hired me.  Jamee Sandalwood is another as she gave me opportunities with Best of Second Life and my first experiences as a themed fashion show script writer.  She was always there for me when I had a question or needed to talk about something.   Then there is Jonelle Devonshire.  I still laugh at the fun we had at my very first shoot with BOSL. The photographer was WrenNoir Cerise and it was an Alice In Wonderland theme.  We spent most of the time virtual throwing cupcakes and tea at each other.   There was also Morgan Whitfield, whose tireless work against domestic violence was inspirational.  I was able to take part in two of her photo campaigns as a model.   

Then there is Lolita Paragorn.  I first met her when she consented to do an interview with me for BOSL.  For all her talents and achievements she was very kind to me and came across as very humble.  For the June 2023 issue of BOSL I wanted to do a profile of Poulet Koenkamp of PM and asked her if she would collaborate with me on it.  I wrote the article and she took all the pictures.  I will always be so thankful to her for being willing to do that.  You can see her work here with my article:

 She is, without any exaggeration, an inspiration to me and makes me want to become a better model and blogger.  No doubt just one of SL residents to feel that way.
