There are times when life takes a turn that surprises you and takes you down a road you never expected to go down. Modeling in Second Life has done that for me. Many opportunities have come my way that have completely floored me with how much honour I feel to be a part of them. I am part of groups I never thought I would be a part of, work with people that I truly respect and admire, walked for shows I would never have thought I would walk in a few years ago. And I work now for companies and people in Second Life that have had my loyalty since discovering them. Ghee is no exception and I am thrilled to be working for them.
I submitted my application to their model search for 2017 after looking at the ad many times and finally put my courage together and put together a look. You can see it below:
I then put it behind me as I have seen the names in their past Ghee Girl searches. The names on that list were and are very popular models or are active in other ways in Second Life. With all those people to choose from why in the world would they even consider me? So I was shocked when I received the notecard informing me that I was chosen to do the second audition and even more stunned when they let me know I was one of the models selected to represent their brand as a live in store model. (And trust me when I say the models I work with for Ghee are very impressive!)
It is an ideal store and brand for me. Ghee is quirky, fun and colorful. Sometimes sexy, sometimes adorable. Color coordinated and stylish. Bea Serendipity and Warm Clarity put a great deal of thought into the work they do - everything is planned out with nothing left unconsidered. Not many designers think about a complete look but they definitely do. But it isn't just about the products they sell. For me, it's also about attitude towards others. I love that they are part of charity events, are active around the Second Life grid with the events they do and how often they give back to their customers. They make people feel like they are valued. And that comes from the heart.
I suppose that's where faith comes in. I look at myself still as a new comer to Second Life modelling. And I definitely AM! But when companies such as Ghee offer a wonderful opportunity to work for them then definitely something good is happening. When Reign Congrejo (yes THAT Reign Congrejo :) ) made the suggestion I get a new profile picture taken that was more professional I went into it with mixed feelings. I had always taken my picture before. Now though, it represents to me the new chapter in my Second Life.
I chose Pam Astonia to take that picture (which is the very first image in this post), and I chose the Poppy Dot gown by Ghee to wear in it. This was not a random thing but very planned. When I first began working for them I wanted to do something special. And the picture above is one that is very special in all that it represents to me. It represents stores I love in Second Life. Groups I am thrilled and honor to work for. But it also represents that I am now a professional model in Second Life. It represents the hours of work behind me to get this far, and the incredible amount of work still ahead. It represents that I am part of something bigger than myself and all the people that helped me along the way - from designers, to other models, to instructors and mentors, to the magazines that chose me to be in them and so much more. I hope I bring that professionalism to the work I do for them and for Ghee.
This post is my way of saying Thank you. I promise next time to do a styling card but for now - I think its just more important to say that more than anything else.
